Signed "Gurlitt" l.r., handstamp and label from Suzanne Duff, Paintings Conservator, Essex Fells, New Jersey, on the backing, partial label from W.K. O'Brien and Bro. Frames, New York, NY affixed to the frame.
Oil on canvas, 31 x 44 1/2 in. (78.7 x 113.0 cm),framed.
Condition: Lined with Beva film onto a new stretcher, craquelure, areas of thinned pigment, scattered retouch.
N.B. The lot is accompanied by Suzanne Duff's examination report and conservation proposal, compiled in September 2019 and executed in October 2019.

The painting has been professionally restored. Multiple tiny dots and dashes of retouch in the sky. A larger vertical area of retouch/restoration in the stand of trees on the left side of the path stretching about 14 inches overall and corresponding to areas of thinned pigment, and with a second line of retouch in the lower center of the path, measuring about 4 inches overall. The conservation report that accompanies the lot lists the initial condition as "...flaking with major losses down the center and minor losses scattered over the surface of the painting."
