Edward Wormley (1907-1995) for Dunbar Breakfront Cabinet and China Closet, Berne, Indiana, c. 1960, mahogany, burlwood veneer, glass, and brass, lighted, curved front, maker's metallic label, total ht. 80, cabinet ht. 24, closet ht. 56, wd. 66 1/4, dp. 16 1/2 in.

Note: Edward J. Wormley was an American modern furniture designer. In 1926 he studied briefly at the Art Institute of Chicago and then worked as an interior designer for Marshall Fields & Company. In 1944, while working for Dunbar, Wormley led their Modern focus incorporating European and Scandinavian influences into their lines. The result was furniture that was sophisticated yet mainstream, and very successful.
