Farren, William (1786-1861) and Edwin Booth (1833-1893) Lot. Farren: two playbills advertising the actor's performance in School for Scandal at the Theatre Royal, Covent Garden, in 1818, framed with hand-colored portrait; and The Rivals, at the Theatre Royal, Hay Market, in 1831, Dight's hand-colored etching of Farren as Sir Peter Teazle; a watercolor of Farren; and a small uncolored engraved portrait; each item framed; Booth: framed collage containing contemporary photographs (likely cabinet cards but not examined out of frame) of Booth, Helena Modjeska, and Lawrence Barrett with a card signed by all three and dated 1889; a playbill printed on silk advertising a Booth and Barrett production of Julius Caesar in Dallas, 1888; a playbill advertising Booth's appearance in Hamlet at the Providence Opera House in 1873; a reproduction of the playbill advertising the performance of Our American Cousin at Ford's Theatre at which President Lincoln was shot; an engraving of Booth as Richard III; a signed Al Hirschfeld caricature of Booth, 1988, limited edition, copy number 108 of 150; and The Rival Richards!!!, London: Forse, 1817, hand-colored etching depicting the rivalry between Junius Brutus Booth and Edmund Kean as they both staged productions of Richard III in London; sizes vary, most items framed.
