The text consists of an account of a voyage to the East Indies made under the command of Pieter Wilemszoon Verhoeff, for the purpose of taking the Maluku Islands (or Moluccas) from the Portuguese. A section of almost 100 pages after the text contains German sentences translated into Malaysian and Malagasy. The work is also cited in scholarship concerning the dodo.
