Blackwell, Anna (1816-1900) and Alice Stone Blackwell (1857-1950) Lot of Associated Material. Including: Anna Blackwell's The Philosophy of Existence, London: J. Burns, Progressive Library, June 1871, signed by Blackwell on publisher's printed wrappers, [another copy] filled with manuscript annotations, additions, corrections, pinned notes, marginal notes, and more, presumably in the author's hand; George Sand's Jacques, New York: J.S. Redfield, Clinton Hall, 1848, second edition, translated from the French by Anna Blackwell, two volumes in one, soft publisher's wraps, inscribed by Blackwell on title, "From the translator"; a guest book associated with the Howard L. Blackwell and family's vacation home, Land's End in Rockport, Massachusetts, signed by guests between 1907 and 1938; a cabinet card of Alice Stone Blackwell; Emma Blackwell, autograph letter signed to her father, November 1909; seven autograph letters signed by Alice Stone Blackwell, 1914-1922 addressed to Howard and Helen Blackwell, most concerned with Kitty Barry's decline; two secretarial letters signed by ASB from 1948; typed poem, "How far that little candle throws its beams," signed, "Cousin Alice"; and a postcard signed by ASB; [together with] some miscellaneous letters received by Howard Blackwell.
