Civil War Regulation Painted Rope Tension Drum and Sticks, c. 1861-65, red-painted upper and lower hoops, shell painted blue with an eagle, shield, sunburst, and banner marked "REGT./U.S./ INFANTRY," with brass tacks around the vent, with a blue paper label inside the shell, with remnants of original rope and eight original leather ears, and a pair of sticks with a brass holder, dia. 16 3/4, ht. 15 in.
Provenance: Purchased from The Horse Soldier in 1990, to the collection of Ron Tunison.

In attic condition with no restoration whatsoever, tension rope is dry and broken and the bottom head is gone.
