U.S. Model 1864 Light Artillery Shako, c. 1866, dark blue wool broadcloth on pasteboard body, brass spreadwing eagle and crossed cannon, red horsehair plume, braided red cords and tassel (1880s),black leather visor and chin strap, with the maker's label inside the crown marked "4/HORSTMANN, BROS & CO/MILITARY GOODS."
Provenance: The collection of Ron Tunison.

The cords are a later replacement, in overall very good condition.
