U.S. Model 1858 "Hardee" Dress Hat, c. 1861-65, black felt hat with two lines of stitching around the leaf, a black silk grosgrain ribbon around the base of the crown, a blue infantry hat cord, brass bugle, brass "2," and a red 1st Corps badge with a gilt wire border, a brass "C" company letter, an eagle hat badge on the right side an ostrich plume, crown is lined with a paper label marked "U.S. ARMY/EXTRA/MANUFACTURE/NO. 4/7 1/8," with a black leather sweatband, overall ht. 5 1/2 in.
