U.S. Model 1884 Trapdoor Springfield Rifle, c. 1892, .45-70, serial number 551540, walnut stock with a crisp cartouche dated 1892, a "9" stamped on the right side of the butt, and "9/D/23" stamped on the top of the butt in front of the buttplate, lock marked "U.S./SPRINGFIELD" with an eagle, marked on the trapdoor "U.S./MODEL/1884," breech marked "V/P" over an eagle, barrel lg. 32 5/8, overall lg. 52 in.

Stock has a few dings and nicks, steep fittings and barrel are a blue/plum color, the lock functions properly, and the bore is bright with some very light scattered pitting.
