U.S. Special Model 1861 Contract Rifle Musket, c. 1864, .58 caliber, walnut stock with an "S" stamped in front of the trigger guard, steel fittings, lock marked "U.S./L.G-& Y./WINDSOR-VT" and dated "1864" on the tail, breech dated "1864" with proof marks, barrel bands marked with a "U," barrel lg. 40, overall lg. 56 in.

Stock has a few dings and nicks, the steel is bright and has no pits or spotting, sight retains its blueing. The lock functions properly and the bore is bright with some scattered light pitting.
