U.S. Model 1842 Springfield Percussion Musket, c. 1854, .69 bore, walnut stock, steel fittings, lock marked with an eagle and "US" in front of the cock, marked "SPRING/FIELD/1854" on the tail, breech marked "V/P" over an eagle and a small "AR/P," marked "18" on the barrel tang with the rest of the date missing, barrel lg. 42, overall lg. 58 in.
