Joab Hapgood Percussion Half-stock Boys Fowler, c. 1840s, .54 bore, walnut stock with brass fittings and a silver escutcheon, lock engraved with a hunter and foliate designs, breech is octagonal and marked "J. HAPGOOD/SHREWSBURY," with a brass tipped wooden ramrod, barrel lg. 21 1/8, overall lg. 36 in.

Note: Captain Joab Hapgood (1804-1890),from Boston and Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, built guns between 1826 and 1864.

Stock has a few dings and nicks, the lock functions properly, steel fittings are a plum brown color, in overall good condition.
