Upholstered Carved Mahogany and Mahogany Veneer Sofa, possibly Philadelphia area, c. 1830, the scrolled crest above a shaped back and seat with ogee front rail, all joining large upholstered arms with carved shell fronts, and large carved paw feet with foliate detail, ht. 32 1/2, overall wd. 91 in.

areas of veneer patching and repair; back has been fixed at least once, with newer screws and a brace; there are large bolts holding underneath the arms which might be the second attempt at a bracing system (since there are some old holes)
