Carved and Painted Rocking Chair with Axe and Saw Back, 19th century, the chair back designed as a vertically aligned axe and lower splat with sawtooth carving, all flanked by curving stiles, above chamfered cross-form sides joining an overupholstered oval seat, original red, yellow, and brown paint, (imperfections),ht. 31 3/4, seat ht. 15 in.
