Inlaid Mahogany Knife Box, England or America, early 19th century, hinged canted lid with an inlaid shell opening to a platform pierced for cutlery with inlaid stringing, interior lid inlaid with a six-point star, conforming shaped case with two panels having an oval reserve inlaid with a stylized eagle figure grasping a pole supporting a Liberty cap in its talons, (age cracks),ht. 14 3/4, wd. 8 3/4, dp. 10 1/2 in.
