Three Painted or Paint-decorated Baskets, northeastern United States, mid to late 19th century, a blue-painted handled basket with history to the maker Martin Schaup of Ebenezer, New York, reportedly painted by Martin's daughter, Dinah; a bittersweet red-painted basket with round rim and square base found in Pennsylvania; and a tapering rounded rectangular painted splint basket composed of contrasting bands, with small bentwood handles at each end, ht. 6 1/2, 4, 7, lg. 14, 11, 16 in., respectively.
