Sculp." within the plate l.l., titled l.c., with a dry stamp from Musée de Louvre Chalcographie in the margin l.c. Hand-colored etching (chalcographie print) on paper, plate size approximately 9 3/8 x 19 in. (24.0 x 48.0 cm),framed.

N.B. La Chalcographie du Louvre offers some 13,000 prints from plates housed in the Louvre's archive. "Chalcography" is a term taken from the Greek chalkos meaning "copper," and graphein meaning "write." Founded during the Revolution, the Chalcography of the Louvre continues to create restrikes from antique plates, pulled in the Louvre's own print shop on historic presses on museum-quality paper. The workshop is now located in Saint-Denis.
