Odalisque (Sulamitide)
, marble figure of a partially draped kneeling figure represents an odalisque, a Turkish harem slave, "SU LA MI TI DE" spelled out in her headdress, signed and dated "P. Romanelli Fecit Firenze 1873," set on a dark green granite base, statue ht. 43, base ht. 19 in.

Note: Romanelli trained at the Accademia di Belle Arte and under the important Tuscan neoclassical sculptor Lorenzo Bartolini. Specializing in classical and Biblical subjects, he executed memorials for some of Italy's most important families. The studio was inherited by his son and grandson and continues to the present day.

Scattered minor chips to the along the base of the statue, most to underside to uppermost edge, one area of shallow flaked loss to extending to top of base to the back right. Otherwise in good overall condition, several minor flaws to the stone, but no repairs or restorations. The granite base lacking its central drum (each piece just rests on each other with no connecting rod),scattered minor chipped loses (some filled).
