Wm. J. Young Surveyor's Transit, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, first half 19th century, 10-1/2 in. scope mounted to two "A"-frame supports, 5 1/2-in. dia. engraved dial marked "Wm. J. Young/Maker/3586/Philadelphia," fleur-de-lis representing north, internal vernier, blued-steel needle with locking mechanism mounted on underside, and circular level, all on a four-screw adjustable base.
