Early IWC 18kt Gold Automatic Wristwatch, c. 1953, oversized silvered dial with arabic even numerals and outer dot minute track, signed "International Watch Co./Schaffhausen," with sweep center seconds, 21-jewel, caliber 852, automatic movement no. 1264334, interior case back signed, integral woven 18kt gold bracelet with overlay folding clasp marked with maker's stamp and "191153," dia. 36 mm, 61g.
Note: 1950 marked an important time in IWC's history. Caliber 85 was developed by Albert Pellaton with the pawl-winding system that featured the first automatic movement produced by IWC. It continues to play an important role in development of the company today. This example descended in the original owner's family.
