Oil on canvasboard, with two thin strips of felt partially adhered to the vertical sides of the recto so that it does not rub against the frame. The rabbet of the frame is cushioned with felt along top and bottom edges. The reverse of the canvasboard shows a pale stain to u.r. corner. The secondary backing board, which is a separate piece of cardboard, bears the inscription and labels referenced above. This secondary board and paper label show water damage and staining, and the paperboard surface is broken in the lower center.
The surface of the work is not pristine and shows scattered minor imperfections. Under UV one can see a cluster of spots at the horizon line in the center which may have been mold or some kind of staining.
Framed dimensions are 13 1/4 x 15 1/8 in.
