Large Huanghuali Wood Brush Pot, China, 17th/18th century, cylindrical form with slightly waisted sides, with a plug, ht. 8 3/8 in.
Provenance: Malcolm Swenson at Hanover, New Hampshire. Mr. Swenson periodically lived and worked in China from 1974 and many of his furniture collections were featured in the exhibition, Classic Chinese Furniture, which was jointly organized by Robert Ellsworth (1929-2014) and held in memory of Cui Wei Lian (1935-2004) at the Kimball-Jenkins Estate in 2004.
