Hanging Scroll Portrait of a Young Official, Korea, early 20th century, Chae Yongshin (1848-1941),seated in a tiger-skin chair, dressed in an official attire with an identity tag reading "mun-gwa panseo," holding a fan, inscribed on reverse with date, signature, and seal, ink and colors on silk, painting 50 x 28 in.
Provenance: Acquired in Korea during the early 1960s by late Mrs. Poul Stengaard Hansen. Hansen worked from 1963 to 1965 as the Chief of Mission at the National Medical Center in Korea; inherited by the present owner.

in good condition with minor pigment losses, some visible toning on reverse.
