Signed and dated "A. JACOBSEN, N.Y. 1878" l.r., titled on a presentation plaque.
Oil on board, 22 x 36 in., in a later gilt molded frame.
Condition: Relined, repaired tear with associated retouch in the sky.

Note: The Dreadnaught, painted shortly before Jacobsen moved to New Jersey, was built in 1871 by Poillon Brothers and owned by Albert W. Nickerson.
