Caverly, c. 1877, after Jean-Antoine Houdon (1741-1828),Washington seen in profile and bust-length, inscribed on the shoulder with the artist's name, and further inscribed under the shoulder with text describing the permission that Mount Vernon gave to Clark Mills in 1849 to take a copy of the original Houdon bust, 21 x 17 in.
