"Mary Ann Latham" Needlework Sampler, possibly North Carolina, stitched in silk or worsted wool on a linen background with two lines of verse over "Mary Ann Latham Her Work Aged 10, 1828" and a church with a sailing ship weathervane and cemetery, tall tree, and brick house, all within a red flower border, framed, ht. 13 1/2, wd. 15 3/4 in.
Note: Genealogical records show a Mary Ann Latham born in North Carolina, in May of 1819, who was still living in the coastal town of Beaufort in 1900.
