August Americana
Description:
Cast Bronze Birdbath, America, late 19th century, the square top with floriform bath on a spiral and acanthus leaf pedestal with molded concrete base ht. 32, wd. 17 3/4, dp. 17 1/4 in.
Estimate $400-600
The metal parts of the bath are affixed to the stone base you can see, which is cracked. The "bath" part is somewhat loose on its post, and there is some sort of putty or latex-type substance which appears to be attempting to hold it steady. In short, the piece is beautiful but has some structural problems that would need to be addressed.
