Grain-painted Daughters of Rebekah Beehive Altar with Painted Ark of the Covenant and Altar Flame Finial, America, late 19th century, the altar with grain-painted top and sides, the front with applied carved and painted altar flames flanking central carved and gold-painted chain links, the sides with carved and gold-painted beehives, the altar supporting a red- and gold-painted ark with "FLT" in chain links in painted in recessed panels of the front and back, and turned legs on the bottom, the top with carved and red- and gold-painted altar flame and carved and gold-painted frieze, and integral turned and red-painted carrying poles with gold ball finials, overall ht. 42 1/2, altar wd. 48 1/2, dp. 20 in.
