Pair of Red-painted Vase-back Chairs, probably Connecticut, mid-18th century, with turned stiles and bases, rush seats, old red-painted surface, ht. 39 1/2, seat ht. 15 1/2 in.

The surface is old but not original, with age-typical wear. One crest has a rosehead nailed repair. There is roughness to some stretchers and the feet, and the rush seats are replacements.
