Thomas Hart Benton (American, 1889-1975)

The Race, alternatively titled Homeward Bound, 1942, edition of 250, published by Associated American Artists, New York (Fath, 56). Signed "Benton" in pencil l.r. and within the matrix, identified on a label from AAA affixed to the backing paper. Lithograph on paper, image size 8 15/16 x 13 1/8 in. (22.5 x 33.3 cm), framed.
Condition: Full sheet with deckled edges, laid down, mat burn, old hinges near upper corners on recto.

Provenance: The estate of Donald A. Hall Jr., New Hampshire.
Estimate $4,000-6,000

The sheet measures 11 3/8 x 16 1/8 inches, and is adhered to a sheet of glassine or similar, although the adhesive is detaching.
