Unsigned, identified on a label from the Philadelphia Museum of Art affixed to the back of the frame.
Oil on cradled panel, 27 x 22 1/2 in. (68.5 x 57.0 cm),framed.
Condition: Old retouch, paint loss with small area of lifting to l.r. quadrant, fine craquelure overall with vertical lines of craquelure suggesting hairline cracks to the panel, varnish discoloration, minor surface grime.
Provenance: Property from the estate of A. Margaret Bok, Rockport, Maine.

The label from the Philadelphia Museum lists the artist as "Meindert Hobbema, but the label also states that "Attributions on loans are those of the lender." The archivist at the Philadelphia Museum of Art confirmed that the painting arrived on loan in January of 1970 and was returned in December 1970, but was never exhibited at the museum.
The cracks are vertical, and present as thin lines of craquelure. The paint loss is quite small, about 1/8 inch diameter.
Framed dimensions are 34 x 31 1/4 in.
