George Platt Lynes (American, 1907-1955)
Four Portraits of Dancer Homer (Randy) Randolph Jack, c. 1947. One stamped "GEORGE PLATT LYNES/VOGUE STUDIOS - LOS ANGELES" on the verso in black ink. Gelatin silver prints, image/sheet sizes to 10 x 8 1/8 in. (25.3 x 20.5 cm), unmatted, unframed.
Condition: Minor wear to corners and edges, print of Jack in a library with scattered handling crimps and emulsion cracks, especially at left side.
Provenance: A Connecticut estate.
Photo of Jack laying measures 9 1/2 x 7 5/8 inches. Curled edges on all sides. Stamp on verso reads "GEORGE PLAYY LYNES/VOGUE STUDIOS - LOS ANGELES".
Photo of Jack sitting measures 9 x 7 inches. Image likely trimmed on bottom, see condition photos. Minor losses to the edges and curled. Minute residue from previous adhesive along edges - apparent in slanted light. Scattered markings on verso.
Photo of Jack in front of bookcase measures 10 x 8 inches. Printed on glossy paper. Curled edges, mostly to the top and bottom. Crimping and emulsion cracks throughout, especially to left side- see condition photos. Minute losses to corners and along top left on recto. Top left printed "EASTMAN - SAFETY - KODAK 86" and small number "8". Largest crease measures approx. 4 inches.
Photo of Jack with skates measures 9 1/4 x 7 1/2 inches. Minute losses to edges, light curling on all sides. Some small pinpoint accretions on verso. Light staining on verso - see photos.
