Description:

Samuel Kravitt (American, 1913-2000)

Fifteen Original Photographs Taken During the Construction of the 1939 World's Fair.
Five unmounted black-and white photographs, and ten additional photos mounted on mat board, many with Kravitt's stamp on the mount, mount verso, or photograph verso, showing workmen building in preparation for the World's Fair, including aerial views of the Trylon and Perisphere; mounts with corners bumped, and spotted, most images 13 1/2 x 10 1/2 in.

Note: From the Library of Congress's website: "Between 1937 and 1939, Kravitt documented the construction of the New York World's Fair from concept to completion. The fair's signature buildings, the Trylon and Perisphere, under construction and later fully constructed, number among the most intriguing images in that series. Outstanding among this group are the images of the steelworkers performing their various tasks."
Estimate $20-200
