Fitch, Walter Hood (1817-1892) Original Watercolor, Cyrtanthus Lutescens, c. 1868. Pencil drawing finished with aquatint, on wove paper, with details, title, and signature in pencil, depicting the botanical specimen, a South African flowering bulb of the amaryllis family (more commonly referred to as Cyrtanthus mackenii),detailing the flowers, buds, leaves, stem, and bulb, all finished in watercolor, with inset details of flower structure, stamen and pistil, and cross-section of seed capsule, additionally titled and dated on verso in pencil in another hand, some old folds and toning, generally good, matted, 15 1/4 x 11 in.
