Lactantius, Lucius Coelius Firmianus (c. 250-c. 325) Opera, Venice: Bonetus Locatellus, for Octavianus Scotus, 1494[bound with] Orosius, Paulus (c. 375- c. 418) Historiae Adversus Paganos, Venice: Octavianus Scotus, 1483. Small folio, two volumes bound as one, Lactantius: a-k8, l10, 90 of 90 leaves; Orosius: a8, b-m6, n4, a1 blank and present; both printed in roman type in single column; first work with woodcut initials and a few supplied by the rubricator; second work with gilt-decorated initial on first leaf of text; both with extensive contemporary marginal notes in red ink; bound in full contemporary blind-stamped German alum-tawed pigskin over wooden boards, contemporary title to front board and manuscript title to top edge, somewhat worn, functioning and intact as a binding, lacking bosses, catches, and clasps, endcaps chipped with loss, tooled with heart and arrow stamps, Madonna and child, and others, likely bound in Nuremberg; 19th century ex library plates, deaccessioned by a local historical society, manuscript waste used as guards front and back, handwritten contemporary index on first blank of Orosius, slight worming to first and last few leaves, a large copy, with deckle edges showing and manuscript notes untrimmed, 11 3/4 x 8 1/4 in.
