Description:

Contemporary Hopi Polychrome Seed Jar, by Fannie Nampeyo (1900-1987), with small flat base, rounded shoulder and flaring rim, painted in red and black over a burnished orange slip, with a series of four tail-feather motifs, each decorated with a hatched panel containing a star, flanked by a pair of spirals, ht. 7, dia. 12 in.

Provenance: Sotheby's, New York, November 30, 1999, Lot 54; The Lucille and Marshall Miller Collection.
Estimate $3,000-5,000

In good overall condition, a few abrasions and the odd scratch.
