Pair of Pendant Portraits, Said to be Catherine Wynne of Hazelwood House (Sligo) and Michelbourne Knox
Unsigned, sitters identified on handwritten labels affixed to the reverse, Catherine with a 1946 newspaper clipping about Hazelwood House also affixed to the reverse.
Each oil on canvas, 30 x 25 in. (76.0 x 63.0 cm),framed (in liners).
Condition: Lined, retouch, craquelure, surface imperfections and grime, Catherine with small puncture to u.r. corner.
N.B. According to the labels on the reverse, the couple was married in 1766. Michelbourne Knox was a wealthy merchant in Sligo. The Wynne family were landed gentry with properties in Counties Leitrim, Cavan and Sligo.
