Signed and inscribed "Olga Ciardi/artista/Piazza S. Croce 19, Firenze" on the reverse.
Oil on canvas, 28 3/8 x 22 3/4 in. (72.0 x 58.0 cm),framed.
Condition: Minor paint losses, varnish inconsistencies, alligatoring or drying cracks in some areas of the shiny pigment of the robe, very fine threads adhered to surface in some areas, UV fluorescence of the brown pigment of the shadows and background, fine craquelure, minor surface grime.
Provenance: Purchased/commissioned from Olga Ciardi by the grandfather of the consignor, who saw the artist at work on this painting in 1909.
N.B. The original painting is in the collection of the Galleria degli Uffizi, Florence, Italy. The title of the work suggests that the Madonna is reflecting on the future of her child.

Handwritten label on the frame provides the date of 1909 for the copy. There is also a label from Fine Art Pictures and Framing, John Wannamaker, Philadelphia, on the frame.
