Description:

Unusual Zenith Open-face Alarm Watch, c. 1930s silvered dial with bold luminous arabic numerals, sunk seconds at 6 and alarm dial at 12, and Mercedes hands, hinged rear case and cuvette, 14-jewel Geneva stripe decorated movement marked "Zenith Watch Co./Swiss," dia. 47 mm.

Provenance: Collection of Bernhard W. Stoeber.

Note: Mahatma Gandhi owned the same type of watch, his belongings were sold at auction in the Summer of 2009; see the March 5, 2009 New York Times article and Chronos magazine Spring/Summer 2009.
