Wm. J. Young Surveyor's Transit, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 10-1/2 in. scope mounted to two "A"-frame supports, 6-in. dia. engraved horizontal dial marked "Wm. J. Young/Maker/Philadelphia," unusual fleur-de-lis and five-point star representing north, internal vernier, blued-steel needle with locking mechanism mounted on underside, and circular level, housed in its original walnut carrying case with interior label reading in part "No. 43 North Seventh Street," ht. 9 1/2 in.
