Description:

Two W. & L.E. Gurley Levels, a dumpy or Gravatt's level with 11 1/4-in. scope fixed to two hexagonal mounts with spirit level above, sits on a ball-and-socket joint with four-screw leveling mount; and a farm level with compass, fitted in its original mahogany box.

Provenance: The collection of William H. Skerritt.

Note: This dumpy level represents the first production, they were discontinued in 1863.
