W. & L.E. Gurley Railroad Compass, with Seattle, Washington, branch office label, c. 1876-85, 6-in. machine-engraved silvered dial with verniers located on the east/west plate, outkeeper, housed in a fitted mahogany box with screwdriver, staff mount, and plumb bob.
Provenance: The collection of William H. Skerritt.
Note: This instrument was returned to Gurley for extensive repairs along with the box and was retrofitted for the 1910 standards. Purchased from Marvin Hurwitz in September 2001.
