W. & L.E. Gurley No. 47 Surveyor's Solar Transit, Troy, New York, c. 1912, 5 1/2-in. engraved silvered dial reading "W.& L. E. Gurley, Troy, N.Y./11576," with dual vernier windows, "A"-frame supports with vertical engraved circle, 11-in. scope, Burt's solar attachment, latitude level, and plumb bob, all housed in its original mahogany fitted box marked "11576," instrument ht. 15 1/4 in.

Provenance: The collection of William H. Skerritt; purchased from Robert Erwin, Decatur, Illinois, April 1993.
