Meneely & Oothout Vernier Compass, West Troy, New York, c. 1837, original lacquered instrument with 7-in. engraved silvered compass, fleur-de-lis representing north, marked "Meneely & Oothout, West Troy, N.Y./Warranted 1837," fine vernier adjustment knob and dual spirit level, housed in a pine box.
