Early Rolex Glossy Black Dial "Explorer" Reference 1016 Wristwatch, c. 1963, glossy black dial with patinaed indices and 3-6-9 numerals, lollipop sweep stainless steel case with center seconds, Mercedes hands, signed crown, serial no. 901202, 26-jewel caliber 1560 automatic movement, on a Rolex signed jubilee bracelet with end links stamped "49," dia. 36 mm.
Provenance: By descent from the original owner.
Note: Introduced in 1963, the reference 1016 was in production until 1989. This watch is a very early example.
