Portrait of the Mohawk of Brooklyn, New York
Bears signature and date "W. Plummer 1877" l.r., identified on the bow.
Oil on canvas, the vessel under full sail, 23 3/4 x 35 1/2 in., in a gilt molded frame.
Condition: Relined.

Provenance: Private collection, Martha's Vineyard; Skinner, June 9, 1996, Lot 25; purchased by a private Massachusetts collector from the above.

Note: A handwritten card affixed to the reverse tells of the vessel's history.
Estimate $1,000-1,500

relined, scattered spots and a long line of retouch in the sky and elsewhere, repaired L-shaped tear with associated retouch through the jibs.
