Orson Byron Lowell (American, 1871-1956)
"Just a Middle-Aged Waiter in a Quiet Hotel for Gentlefolk." Signed "Orson Lowell" l.l., titled and dated "...1931" in an exhibition label affixed to the frame backing. Pen and ink on paper, 15 3/8 x 16 3/8 in., framed. Condition: Staining, toning, not examined out of frame.
Provenance: The collection of Frederic and Jean Sharf, Massachusetts and Florida.
N.B. The exhibition label indicates that although this drawing was not reproduced in its entirety, it was created for the story "Bad Companions" by J.B. Priestly, published in the May 1931 issue of Cosmopolitan.
