Two Grisaille Paintings on Paper: Chalis and Dark Abstraction.Chalis signed and dated "Ashlock 30 march 62" l.c., titled and numbered "...11P" on the backing sheet; Dark Abstraction signed and dated "Ashlock/6-62" in red l.l., titled and numbered "...19P" on the backing sheet. Gouache on paper, each 26 x 19 7/8 in., matted, unframed. Condition: Not examined out of mats.

The works are presented in a kind of mat, consisting of a matboard backing, clear plastic sheeting front, joined around the edges with making tape or similar. The works were probably originally lightly glued to the backing matboard. The mat for "Chalis" is showing wear, with the plastic separating from the backing along one side, and the painting appears to have loosened from the backing matboard.
