Painting of a Scene from a Gita Govinda, India, Rajasthan, Mewar, late 18th century, ink, opaque color, and gold on wasli, depicting Krishna and Radha seated in separate bowers communicating via a messenger, with groups of noblemen conversing to the left, within painted red and yellow borders, the top inscribed, framed and glazed, sight size 9 1/2 x 16 1/2 in.
Provenance: Purchased in the U.S. in 1972 and descended in the Steig family.
