Two black-and-white 8 x 10 in. photographs, the first taken as the Lunar Module ascent stage lifts off from the lunar surface and the powerful LM engine causes a brief gust of wind which scatters gold-colored foil from the LM and disturbs the flag on the surface; the image was taken from film exposed by the 16 mm data acquisition camera mounted inside the LM, lettered in black on recto S-71-19500, purple caption and round logo on verso; the second showing the Descartes area of the Moon on the lunar nearside, future landing site of Apollo 16, black lettering on recto: AS14-69-9520, purple NASA caption and round logo on verso.
